Rider's LeFante 8th of 78
Broncs 10th of 15 after Day One
PRINCETON—-Rider University graduate student Eric LeFante (Colts Neck) is tied for eighth overall and the Bronc golf team is tied for 10th after day one of the Princeton University Invitational, held at the par 71, 6,390 yard Springdale Golf Club.
“We played well despite the windy conditions,” said head coach Bob Whartenby. “Our goal was to be around 300.”
LeFante shot two rounds of 73 on the day for a total of 146. LeFante sits tied for fourth in pars with 27 and is tied for fifth out of 78 golfers in par 4 scoring (4.05).
“Eric played great,” Whartenby said. “There were a couple more shots that he could have made.”
Harvard University leads the competition with a score of 582 with Yale one shot back at 583.
As a team the Broncs shot a 300 in the first round of the day and followed up with a 303 on the second 18 for a score of 603. Rider leads the competition in pars with 119.
Junior Brent Wolgast (Bay City, Mich./Pendleton) had a two round score of 150(75-75) and is tied for 28th.
Junior Brian Accorsini (Hopkinton, Mass/Hopkinton) shot 154(75-79) and is tied for 51st. Accorsini is tied for sixth in birdies.
Sophomore Chris Wolak (Issaquah, Wash./Hopkinton) scored a 78 in his second round after an opening round of 77 for a 155 total and is tied for 56th.
Junior Jordan Wycoff (Fort Washington, Pa./Saint Stephen's Episcopal) shot a total of 156 (79-77) on the day and is tied for 59th.
The final 18 holes are on Sunday.
“We are looking to do as well on Sunday and come in with a nice finish,” Whartenby added.
