Rider at NCAA Regional
Men: 22/28  Women:  23/29

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.--The Rider University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Penn State Saturday afternoon.

In the men's 10K race, Rider finished 22 out of 28 teams overall with junior Michael Lindner (Whitehouse Station/Hunterdon Central) the top Bronc finisher with a time of 32:37 on the 10,000 meter course.  Lindner was 91st overall out of 194 runners.

In the women's 6K, senior Chelsea Callan (Hazlet/Raritan) finished with a 66th place finish out of 204 runners, with a time of 22:30.

"Chelsea ran an absolutely fantastic race," said head coach Bob Hamer.  "It was the best race she has ever run at Rider and it was a tremendous effort.  It was great to see her get a result that was indicative of her training and effort."

Also for the Bronc men, sophomore Sean Donohue (Cliffwood Beach/Matawan) finished 117th with a time of 33:14, senior Mike Soroko (Kinnelon) was 130th (33:41), sophomore Sean McCullough (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./La Salle) placed 133rd (33:43), sophomore Josh Frake (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) finished 157th (34:47) and freshman Avery Schofield (Glassboro/Delsea) ran 34:58 to finish 164th.

Also for the Rider women, sophomore Jillian Shutt (Lawrenceville, Pa./Williamson) was 126th (23:32), sophomore Erin Fitzgibbons (Sayreville) was 128th (23:33), sophomore Nicole Tassello (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) placed 160th (24:24) and sophomore Paige McAtee (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) ran 25:00 to place 176th.

"We were a little injury depleted on the women's side but everyone competed admirably and as a team it was our best overall performance of the year," Hamer added.  "I am hopeful both teams can build on their performances next week."

Last year, the men were also 22nd with the women placing 20th.

Rider completes the 2010 season at the IC4A/ECAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in New York November 20.
