WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- After a week off from competitive racing, the Rider University cross country teams are set for the 2019 MAAC Cross Country Championships this Saturday. The event, hosted by Monmouth, kicks off with the women's race at 11:00 am and is followed by the men's race at noon. The women's race will be a 6K and the men will compete on a five-mile course.

- The top-15 individual runners on the men's and women's sides will earn All-MAAC honors. The top-five freshman finishers for the men and women will be named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.

- Both the Rider men and women were picked eighth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

- At last year's MAAC Championship, the Bronc men landed in eighth-place thanks to a pair of runners finishing in the top-30. On the women's side, Rider came in eighth and a pair of runners earned All-MAAC distinction. Peri Pavicic finished in 14th to earn All-MAAC honors and Teagan Schein-Becker was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.

- Senior Kristen Siegle is enjoying her most successful cross country campaign for the Broncs. This year, she has racked up top-25 finishes in all four of Rider's meets. She opened the year with a fourth-place finish at Siena and has also added two other top-10 results. She set a new career-best in the 6K with a time of 21:22.4 at Lehigh.

- Peri Pavicic and Teagan Schein-Becker have both battled injuries this fall, but are looking to peak as they enter championship season for the women. Most recently, Pavicic ran a college-best time of 21:58.9 in a 6K at Lehigh's Paul Short Run. Schein-Becker also ran her fastest collegiate time (22:55.0) in the 6K at the meet hosted by the Mountain Hawks.

- Senior Tom Long has had a strong start to the fall for the men's team. Through four races, he has racked up three top-25 finishes. At the Henry Mercer Monmouth University Cross Country Invitational earlier this year at Holmdel Park, he posted his top collegiate time in the five-mile run thanks to crossing the finish line at 27:12.9.

- Two other Broncs looking to make a splash this weekend are sophomores Brian Spolarich and Ben Woodward. Spolarich, a transfer from the University of Pittsburgh, has impressed during his first season with the team. He has racked up three top-25 results and also posted his best five-mile time (27:17.5) at the race at Holmdel Park. Woodward has made a big leap forward in his second autumn in Lawrenceville. At the race at Holmdel Park earlier this fall, he finished in 16th-place with a college-best time of 27:04.9 in the five-mile race.
