Rider Women Honored for Academics
NEW ORLEANS, LA?The Rider University women's cross country team was honored for its high grade point average. "We are very proud of the academic and athletic achievements of our student-athletes and it is very rewarding to see the team recognized for its hard work, dedication, and commitment to their academics,” said Coach Bob Hamer.
Rider is one of 158 Division I programs honored by the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association for its high grade point average. There are 325 Division I women's cross country programs. “To be recognized by the coaching body of our sport is a tremendous honor that we strive to achieve on an annual basis," Hamer said.
To be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award a team must possess a grade point average of 3.00 or better. The Broncs possessed a 3.06 team GPA.
The team was led by junior Patrice Mahoney (Staten Island, NY/Port Richmond) with a 3.405 g.p.a. as a Marketing/Advertising major, junior Megan Crowe (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert's) with a 3.247 grade point average as a Secondary Ed./History major, and junior Kelly Wojciehowski (Fair Haven/Rumson Fair Haven) with a 3.248 grade point average as a Business major.
