Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships
Men & Women Finish Second
Jen Riley / Jamaal Harris set MAAC Records
LAWRENCEVILLE-Senior Jen Riley (Holland, PA/Villa Joseph Marie) set a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference record in the pole vault (3.23m) and freshman Jamaal Harris (Beverly/Palmyra) set a MAAC record in the 100 meter (10.87) as both the Rider men's and women's track & field teams finished second at the MAAC Championships hosted by Rider University this weekend. Harris also placed second in the 200m (22.11) with Riley adding a ninth place finish in the high jump (1.45m).
For the Rider women's team, sophomore Pamela White (Thiell, NY/North Rockland) won the 800m (2:18.16), sophomore Amy Sura (Linden/Linden) won the 100m hurdles (15.53) and finished second in the 400m hurdles (1:07.84) and fourth in the pole vault (2.45m), freshman Jennifer Williams (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) won the high jump (1.60m), finished fourth in the triple jump (10.21m) and fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:10.83), with senior Tina Gill (Atco/Edgewood) winning the discus (38.96m), finishing fifth in the shot put (12.18m) and eighth in the javelin (29.98m).
For the Rider men's team, junior Brandon Hicks (Maple Shade/Maple Shade) won the 110m hurdles (14.66), finished second in the 100m (11.04) and fourth in the 200m (22.37), sophomore Giovanni Ramos (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) won the 400m hurdles (54.84) and finished third in the 110m hurdles (15.78), with freshman Brian Thompson (Glassboro/Glassboro) winning the high jump (1.94m) and finishing sixth in the triple jump (12.82m).
Junior Jennifer Gramata (Pottstown, PA/ Owen J. Roberts) finished second in the 400m (58.36) and eighth in the 200m (26.70), freshman Mechea Medine (Pittstown/Delaware Valley Regional) finished second in the long jump (5.33m), ninth in the triple jump (9.82m), and 14th in the 200m (28.63), sophomore Alexis Wood (West Milford/West Milford) finished second in the shot put (12.88m), fourth in the hammer (40.58m), fifth in the discus (32.84m) and 12th in the triple jump (9.20m), and freshman Margaret Shipman (Carteret/Carteret) finished second in the javelin (35.21m) and sixth in the shot put (11.68m).
Freshman Frank Lugo (National Park/Gateway) finished second in the 110m hurdles (15.68), fourth in the pole vault (3.05m), fifth in the 400m hurdles (58.14) and ninth in the long jump (6.17m). Senior Lou Ambruzzese (Erial/Highland) finished third in the pole vault (3.50m) and 17th in the javelin (39.34m), senior Olushola Ijalana (Metuchen/Metuchen) finished third in the shot put (14.72m), fifth in the hammer, establishing a new Rider mark of 48.82m, and 15th in the discus (32.08m).
Freshman Carla Wynter (Roselle/Abraham Clarke) finished third in the 100m (12.96), and third in the 200m (25.90), sophomore Megan O'Halloran (Pennsauken/Pennsauken) finished third in the 3,000m (10:50.50) and sixth in the 1,500m (4:51.90), freshman Ashley Johnson (Avalon/Holy Spirit) finished third in the 400m hurdles (1:10.80) and fourth in the 100m hurdles (16.16) with junior Lindsay Fine (Lavallette/Pt. Pleasant Beach) finishing third in the javelin (34.20m), sixth in the discus (31.62m) and eighth in the hammer (36.72m).
Junior Aaron Johnson (Williamstown/Williamstown) finished third in the discus (41.68m) and seventh in the hammer (45.02m), sophomore Kevin Jones (Absecon/Absegami) finished third in the 100m (11.21), third in the long jump (6.71m) and sixth in the 200m (22.47) with freshman Ayotunde Owodunni (Sicklerville/Highland Regional) finishing third in the 400m hurdles (56.65) and third in the 400m (50.03).
Freshman Ashley Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) finished fourth in the long jump (5.05m), fifth in the high jump (1.50m) and seventh in the triple jump (9.96m), freshman Krystal Daniels (Brooklyn, NY/South Shore) finished fourth in the shot put (12.39m), 10th in the hammer (32.70m) and 11th in the triple jump (9.50m), sophomore Angela DiPaolo (Howell/Howell) finished fourth in the javelin (33.63m) and sixth in the hammer (38.60m), sophomore Justine Diana (Saddle Brook/Saddle Brook) finished fifth in the 100m hurdles (16.25), ninth in the long jump (4.82m) and 10th in the 100m (13.72), freshman Jennifer Marcella (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) finished fifth in the javelin (32.94m) and seventh in the discus (31.38m), sophomore Sarah Peterson (Belle Meade/Montgomery) finished fifth in the 10,000m (43:53.80), junior Danielle Clement (Swedesboro/Kingsway Regional) finished sixth in the 100m (13.10), sixth in the 100m hurdles (16.59) and 10th in the long jump (4.68m), sophomore Erica DellaBonta (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park) finished sixth in the 5,000m (22:51.50), junior Nicole Cirillo (Red Bank/Red Bank Regional) finished seventh in the 100m (13.16) and 10th in the 200m (27.18), sophomore Clare O'Connell (Altamont, NY/Guildeland) finished seventh in the hammer (37.92m), eighth in the discus (31.20m) and ninth in the shot put (9.98m) and freshman Elizabeth Bond (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) finished eighth in the 400m hurdles (1:16.89).
Junior Gabriel Gonzalez (Fort Lee/Fort Lee) finished fourth in the 400m hurdles (57.81), seventh in the triple jump (12.64m) and eighth in the 110m hurdles (16.70), freshman Jay Hill (Matawan/St. John Vianney) finished fourth in the 100m (11.22) and fifth in the long jump (6.29m), junior Jay Kubitsky (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury) finished fourth in the javelin (52.43m) and eighth in the triple jump (12.48m), freshman Adam Kucinski (Erial/Highland Regional) finished fourth in the long jump (6.66m), fifth in the pole vault (2.90m), sixth in the javelin (51.05m) and seventh in the high jump (1.79m) with sophomore Anthony Reid (Parlin/Sayreville War Memorial) finishing fourth in the 400m (50.28) and fifth in the 200m (22.45).
Sophomore Matthew Catinella (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) finished fifth in the 800m (1:55.10), sophomore Joseph Hallowell (Ottsville, PA/Palisades) finished fifth in the 400m (51.20), sixth in the high jump (1.84m) and 10th in the triple jump (11.52m), junior Robert Broomhead (Absecon/Absegami) finished sixth in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:44.20), sophomore Brian Foulke (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) finished sixth in the 400m hurdles (58.97), freshman Samuel Grammer (Chatham/Chatham) finished sixth in the shot put (13.43m) and 11th in the discus (35.28m), sophomore Robin Mesina (Parlin/Sayreville War Memorial) finished sixth in the 800m (1:55.42), freshman Patrick O'Keefe (Bayville/Central Regional) finished sixth in the 400m (51.27), freshman Kyle Casella (Lindenwold/Bishop Eustace) finished ninth in the hammer (35.92m), 10th in the shot put (12.40m), 14th in the javelin (43.02m) and 14th in the discus (32.64m), freshman Brendon Gildea (Media, PA/Penncrest) finished ninth in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:13.80), sophomore Andre Middleton (Maplewood/Columbia) finished 10th in the 400m (52.99), freshman Matthew Ciociola (Clementon/Bishop Eustace) finished 12th in the 3,000m steeplechase (11:05.70), sophomore Robert Mccauley (Hamilton/McCorristin Catholic) finished 15th in the javelin (42.57m) and 16th in the discus (31.16m) with freshman Jeffrey Stout (Plainsboro/West Windsor Plainsboro North) finishing 18th in the 800m (2:05.13).
The men's 4x100 relay (42.14) and 4x400 relay (3:19.58) won with the women's 4x400 relay also winning with a time of 4:03.01 and the women's 4x100 relay finished second in a time of 49.71.
