NEC Honors Rider's
Ang, Bertos Field Hockey Player, Rookie of Week

LAWRENCEVILLE--Sophomore Christina Ang and freshman Courtney Bertos of the Rider University field hockey team were honored by the Northeast Conference, Ang as the Player of the Week, and Bertos as the Rookie of the Week, for all games played the final week of September.

Ang (Somers Point/Mainland Regional) compiled three goals and three assists in two games last week, and Bertos scored three goals, as Rider won a pair of NEC games on the road, 4-0 at St. Francis University and 4-1 at UMBC. Ang's goal gave Rider a 1-0 lead over UMBC. She then assisted on the next two goals, before scoring the fourth goal of the game.

Bertos, (Rockaway/Morris Knolls) who was also named the NEC Rookie of the Week for all games played the first week of September, scored her team-high sixth and seventh goals of the season against UMBC.  Bertos currently leads the NEC in scoring (19 points) and in points per game (2.11). Rider has won its last three games and is currently 6-3 overall, 4-2 in the NEC.

Rider plays an NEC game at Sacred Heart October 5.
