Box Score LAKELAND, FLA. — After a tough loss yesterday, Men's Tennis cruised to a 7-0 win over the Morgan State Bears this afternoon.
The Broncs kicked off the day with a pair of doubles wins, highlighted by a dominant 6-1 win from Matteus Froberg Dahlin and Cole Thurgur. Ibragim Turgambekov and Heath Paul Waters also earned a 6-3 win in doubles, as both tandems went 2-0 over the pair of Spring Break matches.
Rider carried the momentum into singles play, with Dahlin leading the charge by earning a 6-2, 6-0 win. Three other Broncs earned straight-set wins, with Thurgur and Nathan Slattery both winning their respective matches 6-1, 6-1 and Matthew Griscti earning a 6-2, 6-3 win. In the remaining two singles matches, Axel Engstrom rebounded from a first set defeat to win 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) and Turgambekov coming back to earn a 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 1-0 (10-6) victory.
This is the first time Men's Tennis has earned a 7-0 win over an opponent since March 16, 2023 against University of Wisconsin-Superior in Orlando. It's the first time the program has earned a shutout win over a Division I opponent since defeating Wagner 6-0 on October 15, 2010.
Men's Tennis returns to action this Sunday as it hosts Norfolk State in its home opener.
