Lacrosse Drops Tight Game at Old Dominion

NORFOLK, VA – The Rider University women's lacrosse team was topped Saturday afternoon, falling at Old Dominion, 10-8. The Broncs fall to 1-5, while the Monarchs improve to 3-2.
 
After falling behind 3-0, Madi Mooney (Vista, CA/San Marcos) got the Broncs on the board late in the first. ODU would score early in the second when Maggie Hance (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) provided the answer for the Broncs. The Monarchs scored with less than a minute remaining in the first half to go up 5-2, but Mooney would score with just 14 second remaining in the half to trim the deficit to 5-3 at the half.
 
In the third, Marybeth Smith (Macungie, PA/Emmaus[La Salle]) and Marissa Ross (Reisterstwon, MD/Beth Tfiloh[FDU-Florham]) countered Old Dominion goals and the Monarchs maintained a 7-5 lead entering the fourth. The Broncs got to within one three times in the fourth quarter, all on goals by Hannah Kozik (Ellington, CT/Ellington). Each time the Monarchs had a response, not allowing the Broncs to tie the game at any point.
