NEW YORK, NY – The Rider women's indoor track and field team concluded day one of the 2026 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday evening, sitting in third place heading into the final day of competition.
In the weight throw,
Maria Chiariello placed fourth with a mark of 15.83m, while
Daniella Johnson followed closely behind in fifth at 15.59m.
On the track, Tamra Rawles secured a spot in Sunday's 400m final after finishing second in the preliminaries with a time of 56.36.
Morgan Jean also advanced to the 400m final.
Julie Ruskan and
Olivia Bortz each qualified for the 800m final, while
Taylor Johnson punched her ticket to the 60m dash final.
Rider's distance medley relay team of
Nicole Dauberman,
Gina Rubio,
Tatiana Nunez, and
Liz Fis turned in a strong performance, placing second overall with a time of 12:05.62.

"We had some nice performances today to kick off the championships. We advanced some athletes through to the finals and scored some points to help out the team.
Maria and Danny got things going with the weight throw today. It's a really competitive event, and they competed well.
