Lacrosse Downed by Temple

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's lacrosse team was defeated Tuesday afternoon on Ben Cohen Field, falling to Temple, 16-6. The Broncs fall to 1-2, while the Owls remain unbeaten at 4-0.

The Owls would score the game's first goal, but Rider would respond with tallies from Kayleigh Colleary (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart[Butler]) and Brynn Merklinger (Mendham, NJ/Mount Saint Mary Academy) to take the lead. Temple would respond with a pair of goals before Colleary once again found the back of the net to even the score 3-3.

The Owls then made the game's decisive run, scoring five-straight to close out the quarter, then the contest's only three goals in the second quarter. Temple would add on the first two goals in the third quarter for a 10-0 run before Hannah Kozik (Ellington, CT/Ellington) ended the rally. Temple would lead 14-4 after three quarters.

Marissa Ross (Reisterstwon, MD/Beth Tfiloh[FDU-Florham]) and Maggie Hance (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) would score for the Broncs in the fourth, but the damage was already done.

Quotes & Notes
"Temple is a very veteran team that's coached very well, and put us in a hole we had to dig out of. We have to clean up little things. We have to win ground balls, finding each other in the clear, and helping each other between the 30s. But we did a great job supporting each other when we made mistakes. That's the focus, we need to show up, do the little things. We're going to have to put in a ton of work, and be ready to go and see some sunshine." – Head Coach Paige Frye

- Temple extends its lead in the all-time series to 2-0.
- Avery May (Aurora, CO/Grandview) got the start for the Broncs, playing the first 15 minutes before Jamie Kubach (Philadelphia, PA/William Penn Charter[FDU-Florham]) played the remaining 45 minutes in goal. Kubach made three saves in the game.

Broncs By The Numbers
- Ross and Madi Eollo (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) each recorded an assist in the contest.
