Lacrosse Defeated at Jacksonville

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's lacrosse team was defeated Saturday afternoon, falling at Jacksonville, 17-4. The Broncs fall to 1-3, while the Dolphins remain unbeaten at 2-0.
 
After the Dolphins opened the scoring, Marissa Ross (Reisterstwon, MD/Beth Tfiloh[FDU-Florham]) got the equalizer for the Broncs on the free position. Jacksonville would respond with four-straight goals before Madi Mooney (Vista, CA/San Marcos) scored off the free position and Jacksonville would lead 6-2 after the first. The Dolphins outscored the Broncs 4-0 in the second to lead at the half 10-2.
 
In the third, the Dolphins extended the run to 8-0, spanning back to the final goal of the first quarter, extending the lead to 13-2 before Ava Carpinteri (Middletown, DE/Hillgrove) scored in the final seconds of the period to make it 13-3 entering the fourth.
 
Kayleigh Colleary (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart[Butler]) scored to open the fourth quarter, but the Dolphins would outscore the Broncs 4-0 the rest of the way to secure the win.

- Saturday's game was the first-ever between the programs.
- Avery May (Aurora, CO/Grandview) got the start for the Broncs, playing the first 30 minutes before Jamie Kubach (Philadelphia, PA/William Penn Charter[FDU-Florham]) played the second half in cage. May made a save, allowing 10 goals to take the loss, with Kubach making eight saves and allowing seven goals in the contest.
