Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Blanks George Washington, 3-0

Kostanjsek scores twice, adds assist

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Lovro Kostanjsek (Domzale, Slovenia/Gimnazija Domzale) scored twice and added an assist, while Bobby Lucien (Neptune, NJ / Neptune) added a goal and an assist as the Rider University men's soccer team defeated George Washington, 3-0, Monday afternoon on Ben Cohen Field. With the win, the Broncs improve to 1-2-1, while the Revolutionaries fall to 1-2-0.

The Broncs opened the scoring in the 15th minute, when Kostanjsek collected a ball headed out from the goal line by a George Washington defender. Kostanjsek took a control dribble to his left before firing inside the left post from 18 yards out.

The score remained 1-0 into the second half, before Kostanjsek's corner kick produced a second goal in the 83rd minute. The set piece found the head of Leo Arndt (Dusseldorf, Germany/Lore Lorentz College) in the middle of the box, setting up Lucien's left foot near the penalty kick spot, with the freshman finishing inside the right post.

The Broncs added another goal in the 89th minute, as Lucien's cross from the right sideline found Kostanjsek at the left post for the poised finish from point-blank range.

Quotes & Notes
"Really happy with the guys today. Pleased with how we played. I thought we had good tempo on the ball. Obviously, able to find the back of the net in key moments of the game as well. I thought we scored at a good time in the first half and the goals came at good times in the second half for us. Really pleased with the performance of everybody. The fight was there. The togetherness was there. And the final product was finally there." – Rider Head Coach Chad Duernberger
