LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University senior women's track & field student-athlete Krisantha Spencer (Upper Montclair, NJ/Montclair) and graduate student wrestler Sammy Alvarez (Garfield, NJ/Saint Joseph Regional [Rutgers/Oklahoma State]) have been selected McGriff Rider Athletes of the Month for March.   

Spencer earned All-East in the 1,000 meters at ECAC Championships, breaking and re-breaking the program record in consecutive races. She ran the race in 2:54.66 in the prelims, before finishing in 2:54.03 in the finals to finish fourth.

Alvarez became Rider's 21^st All-American in wrestling with a seventh-place finish at 149 lbs. at NCAA Championships, going 5-2, including wins over competition from North Dakota State (twice), Oklahoma, Iowa State and Little Rock. He was also MAC Champion at his weight class, going 4-0 at 149 lbs., including a 13-4 major decision over Central Michigan's Mason Shrader in the title bout. He went 25-7 on the year to become Rider's second MAC Wrestler of the Year (Jesse Dellavecchia, 2021).
