EDISON, NJ – Tamrat Snyder and
Damere Lassiter have been recognized with MAAC weekly honors, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Tamrat Snyder earned his second MAAC Track Performer of the Week award this season after delivering standout performances in the distance relays at the Penn Relays. The graduate student ran an impressive 1:50 split in the Distance Medley Relay, helping his team to an 11th-place finish in the college section. That time ranks third all-time at Rider. Snyder followed up the next day with another 1:50 split in the 4x800 relay, where the team placed eighth with a time of 7:31.23, the fastest in the MAAC this season by over 30 seconds and just shy of cracking Rider's all-time top five.
Damere Lassiter picked up his first career MAAC Field Performer of the Week award after an eighth-place finish in the college shot put at the prestigious Penn Relays, recording a throw of 16.10 meters. That mark ranks fifth all-time at Rider and second in the MAAC this season among freshmen. Lassiter also took fourth in the shot put at the TCNJ Lions Invitational with a mark of 15.51 meters. Both throws meet the IC4A qualifying standard.
The Broncs will return to action on May 2 at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton.
