POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Rider baseball team opened its weekend series at Marist with a dominant game one win and a clutch performance in game two, sweeping Friday's doubleheader behind strong pitching, and a pair of milestone moments. The Broncs shut out the Red Foxes 7-0 in the opener before grinding out a 2-1 victory in the game two to clinch the series.
Game 1
Erich Hartmann got the offense rolling for the Broncs with a double down the left field line.
Joe Tiroly followed with a milestone moment, notching a base hit in his first at-bat of the day to record his 100th career hit.
Rider opened the scoring in the first inning as Kyle Neri delivered a sacrifice fly to bring Hartmann home.
The Broncs added three more runs in the second inning behind a pair of sacrifice flies and an RBI single from Charley Magoulick, scoring Anthony Paskell to push the lead to 4-0.
Rider capitalized on a wild pitch in the third to plate another run and stretch the lead to 5-0.
After a quiet stretch, the Broncs broke through again in the seventh when Tiroly reached another career milestone—tallying his 100th career RBI with a two-run single to make it 7-0, the eventual final score in game one.

Rider struck first, with Erich Hartmann driving in Matt Leahy to put the Broncs on the board.
