Shuhet’s Big Day Lifts Baseball Past Quinnipiac in Series Finale

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Nick Shuhet led the Broncs in the final game of their three-game series against Quinnipiac, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate to propel the Rider baseball team to a commanding 19-9 victory on Sunday afternoon at Sonny Pittaro Field.

Quinnipiac jumped out to an early lead for the third straight game, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning.

The Broncs quickly responded by loading the bases at the bottom of the first. Matt Leahy put Rider on the board, scoring on a wild pitch. Moments later, Nick Shuhet stepped up and crushed a grand slam over the left-field wall, his first of the 2025 season, to give the Broncs a 5-3 advantage.

The Bobcats answered with a run in the top of the second, trimming the deficit to 5-4.

Rider extended its lead in the bottom of the second when Kyle Neri and Joe Tiroly delivered back-to-back hits, pushing the score to 7-4.

The Broncs continued their offensive surge in the third inning. With the bases loaded, Joe Tiroly smashed a triple to right-center, bringing in three runs and widening the lead to 11-4.

Rider's dominance continued in the fourth inning, with Peter Crespo scoring on a walk to make it 12-4.

Nick Shuhet kept his stellar performance going, hitting a triple that drove in two more runs. The Broncs added two additional runs to close out the fifth inning with a commanding 16-4 lead.

Quinnipiac managed to score their fifth run in the top of the sixth, but Shuhet struck again with a single to right field that brought in two more runs, extending the lead to 18-5.

AJ Labrusciano followed up by sending Neri across home plate, pushing the Broncs' lead to 19-5.

The Bobcats attempted a late comeback, scoring four runs to cut the deficit to 19-9. However, Rider escaped a bases-loaded jam to secure the win in seven innings.
