FAIRFIELD, CT – The Rider University women's basketball team was topped Thursday night, falling at Fairfield, 72-46. The Broncs drop to 6-19 overall and 4-12 in MAAC play, while the Stags improve to 22-3 on the season and remain unbeaten at 16-0 in league play.
After Rider got the first points of the game on a bucket by
Gabby Turco (Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood Crest[La Salle/Saint Anselm]), Fairfield would take the lead with a 9-0 run. Rider would remain close, countering with an 8-2 run with four different Broncs recording baskets. Fairfield led 14-12 after one quarter.
Camryn Collins (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) would begin the second quarter with three free throws across a pair of possessions to give Rider back the lead at 15-14. Following a layup by
Aliya McIver (White Plains, NY/White Plains) that put Rider on top 17-16, Fairfield took control of the game. The Stags closed out the half on a 24-4 run, including runs of 10-0 and 11-0.
The Stags would maintain the lead throughout the second half, leading 48-29 after the third before extending the lead in the fourth to produce the final score.

- Rider had a 43-34 advantage on the glass, including a 12-10 edge in offensive rebounds. McIver led the Broncs with nine rebounds.
