Fairfield opened the scoring with a pair of goals in the first quarter, converting on a rebound off a penalty corner to open the scoring, then scoring off a scramble in front just before the end of the first quarter.

Midway through the second quarter, the Stags scored again off a penalty corner, but just before the half, the Broncs got on the board.  Valeria Perales (Madrid, Spain/IES Mirasierra) got possession near midfield then played a long ball in to the circle and on to the stick of Martina de Cespedes (Málaga, Spain/Novaschool Sunland International). Her centering pass was deflected in to the back of the cage by Emma Bonshak (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) to make the score 3-1 entering the half.
