Box Score NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Rider University field hockey was defeated at Merrimack Friday afternoon, falling 3-1. The Broncs drop to 7-8 on the season, and 4-4 in league play, while the Warriors improve to 3-11 overall and 3-5 in league games.
The Broncs opened the scoring less than three minutes into the opening quarter on a penalty corner.
Valeria Perales (Madrid, Spain/IES Mirasierra) made the insert to
Anna Finn (Windsor, NY/Windsor Central), who found
Megan Normile (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt). Normile ripped a shot that
Semra Said (Mannheim, Germany/ Feudenheim Gymnasium Mannheim) deflected in to the back of the cage.
The Warriors would respond with two goals over the next ten minutes to take the lead, then a scoreless second quarter would give Merrimack the one-goal edge at the break.
Midway through the fourth quarter, the Warriors would add an insurance goal on a penalty corner, and fight off numerous Rider corners to preserve the victory.
