LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's basketball team was defeated in their first action of 2025, falling to Fairfield 69-37. The Broncs fall to 2-9 overall and 0-2 in MAAC play, while the Stags improve to 8-3 on the season and 2-0 in league play.
The Broncs were solid early, getting the game's first points on a
Sanaa Redmond () layup, before a three pointer by
Gabby Turco (Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood Crest [La Salle/Saint Anselm]) and a bucket from
Mariona Cos-Morales (Matadepera, Spain/IES Matadepera) gave Rider a 7-6 lead halfway through the first quarter. The Stags would fire back ending the quarter on a 13-4 run to lead 19-11 after the first quarter.
Four quick points from
Camryn Collins (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) kept the Broncs close at 21-15, but leading 23-17, Fairfield pulled away with a 13-2 run and led at the half, 38-21.
Down 47-25 in the third, Rider went on a 4-1 run with Turco scoring all four for the Broncs, but Fairfield ended the quarter scoring seven-straight points to lead 55-29 after three quarters.
The Broncs kept pace with the Stags in the fourth until Fairfield went on a 6-0 run to close out the game and produce the final score.
