WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Rider University field hockey team was defeated Friday evening at Monmouth, 5-0. The Broncs fall to 2-3 on the season, while the Hawks improve to 4-1.
The Hawks opened the scoring midway through the first quarter, and added their second goal late in the second to go into halftime leading 2-0. The Broncs did have their chances with six corners drawn in the opening 30 minutes, but were unable to find a scoring play.
Despite Rider drawing another five corners in the third quarter, it was Monmouth who scored twice in the frame, extending the lead to 4-0. The Hawks would add another goal in the fourth to produce the final score.
