Walsh Earns Lacrosse's First All-MAAC Honor

Bontatibus and Henderson named to MAAC All-Rookie Team

EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced postseason awards for women's lacrosse Friday and Rider University's Katie Walsh earned the program's first-ever All-Conference honor, being named to the All-MAAC Second Team at midfield. In addition, Elena Bontatibus and Hayley Henderson were named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.
 
Walsh stuffed the stat sheet for the Broncs in their inaugural season, leading the team and finishing third in the MAAC in draw controls per game at 5.56 and eighth in the MAAC at 2.69 ground balls per contest. The redshirt sophomore was also second on the squad and seventh in the MAAC in goals per game.
 
Bontatibus had a strong freshman season, scoring 22 goals and adding seven assists, finishing fourth on the Broncs in goals, sixth in assists and seventh in points.
 
Henderson was the Broncs' draw specialist and a defensive midfielder, finishing third on the team with 53 draw controls, while also adding 10 caused turnovers, and 10 ground balls.
 
The Broncs completed their inaugural season with an 8-9 record.
