FAIRFAX, V.A- The Rider University Wrestling team rounded out their weekend of duals by staying perfect in the MAC with a 30-9 victory over George Mason on Sunday afternoon. With the win, Rider moves to 6-6 and 6-0 in the Mid-American.
Rider kicked off the dual with more magic from Tyler Klinsky and Richie Koehler, who both returned to their bonus point ways in Fairfax. Klinsky picked up his team-best 10th bonus point win and seventh tech fall by taking down JB Dragovich. Koehler then topped Klinsky's win with his second pin of the year taking down Brandon Wittenberg to give Rider an 11-0 dual lead after two bouts.
After a loss at 141, Rider turned to #33 Quinn Kinner who defeated Kaden Cassidy 5-0, to win his third straight match and move to 5-1 in MAC duals.
Following a loss at 157, Jake Silverstein and Michael Wilson came out with big wins at 165 and 174. Silverstein took a high-scoring decision over Evan Maag 12-9. The former 2020-21 NCAA qualifier Silverstein battled in a shootout with both sides trading takedowns back and forth throughout. Silverstein found a late takedown after an injury timeout which also assessed a stalling warning to Rider's 165-pounder. Silverstein then found a way to defend a shot from Maag in the final seconds to pull away at 165.
Wilson's path to victory followed a similar path as his predecessors by also scoring multiple takedowns to defeat Paul Pierce 9-7.
Rider's day concluded with a pair of major decisions at 197 and heavyweight by Azeem Bell and David Szuba. The pair of victories concluded the dual giving Rider their 11th straight MAC win dating back to January 26th of 2023.
