Walsh Earns Lacrosse's First Weekly Award in Program History

EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced selections for weekly awards in women's lacrosse and Rider's Katie Walsh was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week for her performance over the past seven days. Walsh becomes the first player in program history to win a weekly conference award.
 
Walsh continues to lead the MAAC in goals per game after scoring nine goals and adding four assists during the past week as the Broncs improved to 3-0 in their inaugural season. The redshirt-sophomore scored five goals on just five shots and chipped in an assist in a 19-13 win over Saint Francis. The redshirt-sophomore then scored four goals and dished out three assists in a 17-3 victory over CCSU. Walsh was also strong on the defensive side of the ball, grabbing 13 draw controls (10 against Saint Francis), causing five turnovers, and scooping eight ground balls. For the season, Walsh ranks in the top six in the MAAC in goals per game, assists per game, points per game, caused turnovers per game, ground balls per game, and draw controls per game.
 
The Broncs return to action Tuesday afternoon against Monmouth at 4 p.m. on Ben Cohen Field.
