GENEVA, OH – The Rider University women's swimming and diving team got off to a strong start on day one of the MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships, closing out the opening day in third place. The Broncs totaled 81 points on the day. Fairfield currently leads the meet with 127 points.
The 200-medley relay team of
Alexa Torres (Lyndhurst, NJ/Lyndhurst),
Allison Stewart (Newtown Square, PA/Lower Merion),
Maddie McSorley (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy), and
Connar Melcher (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) combined to stop the clock at 1:46.74 for sixth place.
In the 800-free relay,
Hannah Yemec (Bluffton, SC/May River),
Mallory Mead (Middle River, MD/Dulaney[Oklahoma Christian]),
Lea Opdyke (Ocala, FL/West Port), and
Casey McLaughlin (Ramsey, NJ/Ramsey) combined to finish ninth with a time of 7:41.39.
In the 1-meter diving event,
Karyn Creelman (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) was the top scoring Bronc, earning 229.40 points to place fourth.
Adriana Raymond (Southington, CT/St. Paul Catholic) scored 190.45 to take eighth.
