LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's swimming and diving team opened the season Saturday afternoon in Coppola Pool, falling to Iona 180-117. The Broncs fall to 0-1, while the Gaels improve to 2-0.
The Bronc women won five events in the meet.
Casey McLaughlin (Ramsey, NJ/Ramsey) got the Broncs on the board with a win in the 1,000-free, touching the wall at 10:51.06, 13 seconds faster than the competition.
The Broncs got a one-two finish in the 50-free with
Donja Tripp (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) and
Sonya Mishakova (Bali, Indonesia/Australian Independent School Bali) swimming 24.11 and 24.92. Mishikova later earned a win in the 100-free, swimming 54.46.
In the diving well, the Broncs swept the 3-meter with Campbell Dopler (Bettendorf, IA/Bettendorf),
Karyn Creelman (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin), and
Adriana Raymond (Southington, CT/St. Paul Catholic) scoring 215.85, 202.50, and 200.93, respectively. Dopler and Creelman also went one-two on the 1-meter with scores of 211.13 and 203.78.

Megan Smith (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) were two-three in the 200-fly.
Ava Smith was also third in the 100-fly.
- In the 200-back, Morgan and Aubree-Claire Alewine-Frasier finished two-three.
- McLaughlin added a third-place finish in the 500-free and the 200-IM.
