EDISON, NJ – The Rider University women's basketball team was selected to finish ninth in a vote by the league's coaches, as released by the MAAC on Tuesday morning. The Broncs are coming off a tie for eighth-place regular season finish a year ago before advancing to the MAAC quarterfinals and pushing top-seeded Fairfield to the brink.
The defending champion Stags were selected as the unanimous picks to repeat as champions, led by reigning MAAC Player of the Year and 2024-25 Preseason Player of the Year Janelle Brown. Siena was selected second by the coaches with Niagara and Quinnipiac picked tied for third in the poll. MAAC newcomers Sacred Heart were picked fifth with Manhattan, Mount St. Mary's and Iona claiming the sixth through eighth spots. Behind Rider, Saint Peter's, Marist, Merrimack, and Canisius round out the poll.
The Broncs open the regular season against Navy in Alumni Gym on Nov. 4.
