Late La Salle Goal Ends Field Hockey Winning Streak

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rider University field hockey team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end Sunday afternoon, falling 3-2 at La Salle. The Broncs drop to 10-7 on the season, while the Explorers improve to 9-9.
 
Late in the first, the Explorers opened the scoring on a penalty corner, and La Salle would hold the lead through the opening 15 minutes. Less than two minutes into the second, the Broncs would respond when Olivia Machiavelli (Madrid, Spain/ International School Sek el Castillo) scored the equalizer off a Rider corner and the game remained tied into the half.
 
Following a scoreless third, It was less than two minutes into the fourth when La Salle would find the back of the cage off yet another corner. Just over a minute later Megan Normile (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) tied the game 2-2.
 
With just over five minutes remaining, La Salle would find the game-winning goal on what would eventually be the final shot of the game for either side.

- Rider's lead in the all-time series is trimmed to 27-13-1.
Jade Regnart (Cape Town, South Africa/Fairmont) got the start in net, playing all 60 minutes and making five saves, taking the loss.
