Men's Basketball Holds Off Holy Family in Exhibition Saturday

Ingraham leads four in double figures with 21 points

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ Tariq Ingraham (Philadelphia, PA/Bonner-Prendergast [Wake Forest]) led four Broncs in double figures with 18 points as the Rider University men's basketball team held off Holy Family, 84-79, in an exhibition game Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gym. The Broncs open the regular season Monday, Nov. 4, when they travel to face UCLA at Pauley Pavilion.

Joining Ingraham in double figures were Tank Byard (Atlantic City, NJ/Atlantic City [Alcorn State]) with 17 points, T.J. Weeks Jr.'s (Warwick, RI/Bishop Hendricken Catholic [UMass]) with 14 and Jay Alvarez (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro Area [Houston Christian) with 13. Ife West-Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/Abington Friends) had a team-high eight rebounds.

The Broncs went on a 7-0 run to take a 16-11 lead on T.J. Weeks Jr.'s (Warwick, RI/Bishop Hendricken Catholic [UMass]) three-pointer at the 11:44 mark of the first half. The Rider advantage swelled to 29-18 at the 7:35 mark with a 9-0 run capped by another triple, this time from Jay Alvarez (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro Area [Houston Christian). The Tigers clawed back to within two and the Broncs held a 41-37 lead at the break. Weeks Jr. led the Broncs with 11 points at the half, while Alvarez added 10.

Rider rebuilt the lead to 11 points on multiple occasions in the second half before Holy Family used an 11-1 run to tie the game with 5:48 remaining. Holy Family pulled back to within one, 80-79, on a three-pointer with 29 seconds remaining. But the Broncs made their free throws and made a pair of stops to close out the victory.
