LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University wrestling team will officially name the Gary Taylor Wrestling Center with a special naming ceremony as part of Homecoming Weekend, Saturday, October 26. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with light refreshments to be served.
Taylor accumulated 442 dual victories in his 39 seasons as head coach of the Broncs, good for 3rd all-time in Division I at the time of his retirement, along with 14 conference championships as well as mentoring 15 different wrestlers to 17 All-America honors. Taylor was also lauded for his contributions to the greater campus community. In 2004, he was presented the Rider Sesquicentennial Medal of Excellence. The medals, which were presented throughout Rider's sesquicentennial year, recognized the achievements of alumni, board members, faculty, staff, friends and organizations that have gone above and beyond in assisting the University better serve its students. In 2010, he was honored with the Frank N. Elliott Award for Extraordinary Service to the University.
