LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Rider University women's basketball team struggled in the second half Thursday night, falling at Siena, 79-58. The Broncs fall to 5-10 on the season and 2-4 in MAAC play, while the Saints improve to 7-8 overall and 4-3 in league games.
The Saints blitzed the Broncs, opening a 6-0 lead in just over a minute to open the game. Down 17-8,
Taylor Langan (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Jefferson Township[Colgate/Millersville]) scored the final four points of the quarter as Rider cut the deficit to five after the opening frame.
After Siena quickly extended the lead to 23-13 early in the second-quarter, the Broncs fired back, going on an 11-1 run, including six from
Makayla Firebaugh (Winchester, VA/James Wood) to tie the game at 24-24. A late layup by
Sanaa Redmond (Philadelphia, PA/The Shipley School[Samford]) gave the Broncs their first lead of the game at 31-30 which they would take into the break.
With Siena leading 40-37 midway through the third, the Saints closed out the quarter on a 14-2 run, building a 54-39 lead with 10 minutes to play.
Siena carried the momentum into the fourth, opening the final frame on a 12-3 run to build a 66-42 lead and the Broncs would not be able to recover.

- Siena wins its fourth-straight in the series, extending its lead in the all-time series to 39-17.
- Langan finished with a team-high 19 points for her team-high 13
th game in double figures, and added 10 boards for her fifth double-double of the season.
- Firebaugh added 18, her seventh game in double figures this season. Firebaugh broke a tie with Iris Beistline to take sole possession of 10
th on the program's all-time scoring list.

Aliya McIver (White Plains, NY/White Plains) scored a career-high six points and added a career-high three steals off the bench.
- For the first time this season, the Broncs did not win after leading at the half.

- Rider shot 40.4% (21-52) from the field, and 46.2% (6-13) from three, and the Saints shot 45.6% (31-68) from the field and 30.0% (6-20) from three.
- The Broncs had 11 assists on their 21 made baskets, led by three from Langan.
- Siena won the rebounding battle, 45-28, including a 17-6 advantage on the offensive glass.
