LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J- Tyler Klinsky and
David Szuba both scored bonus point decisions however the Rider University Wrestling team fell to in-state rival Princeton 20-19. With the loss, Rider falls to 2-5 on the year and Princeton moves to 1-2 on the season.
Klinsky kicked off the dual with another impressive performance picking up a 17-3 major decision win over Drew Heethuis of Princeton. Klinsky and Heethuis were scoreless after the first period but Klinsky would score a take-down and a reversal in the second to take a 6-2 lead into the final period. Klinsky who was coming off the biggest upset win of the year over #2 Dean Peterson a week ago, revved the gas pedal and exploded for nine points on three take-downs in the final period scoring the 17-3 major over Heethuis.
David Szuba ended the dual with a massive win to get back into the win column on the season. After dropping back-to-back matches Szuba fired out of the gates taking down Sebastian Gerabaldi and scoring the pin in less than 45 seconds to cap off the night at Alumni Gym.
Rider would follow the Klinsky win up with a Richie Koehler victory moments later at 133 over Sean Pierson 10-4. However, The Broncs struggled to pick up victories at 141 or 149 and sat only up by one 7-6 after four bouts.
#31 Colton Washleski provided a big win to re-extend the lead in the dual after taking down Rocco Camillaci 8-3. But the Tigers struck back in a huge way with a dominant tech fall win for Blaine Bergey 23-7 over Jake Silverstein who suffered an injury in the early part of the second period.
Michael Wilson did his part to help the Broncs battle back in the dual taking down Mike Squires 4-1 at 174, but the Broncs would drop the next two bouts sealing the win for Princeton.
