WEST POINT, NY –
Dhruv Tangri (Punjab, India/Cambridge International School) won a team-high five matches, going 5-1, as the Rider University men's tennis team wrapped up a successful weekend at the Army Shootout. Tangri went 3-0 in doubles play with
Cooper Dillon (Brisbane, Australia/Laurel Springs), while winning two of three singles matches. The weekend featured singles or doubles matches against the likes Army, Fairleigh Dickinson and Holy Cross.
Stavros Hadjivarnava (Moutagiaka, Cyrus/British College of Gava) also had a successful weekend, going 2-1 in both singles and doubles. Both of his doubles wins came with
Roger Martinez (Girona, Spain/Saint George's School). Martinez also picked up a singles win against Jeremy Clark of Holy Cross.
The momentum from last weekend carried over to this," said Rider Head Coach
Tom Battaglia. "The guys know how important these invitationals are to our long-term success. Proud of how they handled themselves all weekend. We have a big week with two matches and two invitationals. Excited to get back to work, as I know the guys feel the same way."
Jake Grimes (Atlanta, GA/Johnson Ferry Christian Academy) and
Nathan Slattery (Nenagh, Ireland) both picked up one win at both singles and doubles on the weekend, while
Vishal Ganeshan (Sydney, Australia/Knox Grammar School) earned one singles win.
As a team, the Broncs earned doubles wins over one of Army's teams, 2-1, while taking wins in both singles (6-2) and doubles (3-0) against Holy Cross.
