Upsets from Kinner and Wilson Not Enough for Wrestling at Oklahoma

Kinner and Wilson score major upsets for the Broncs down south

NORMAN, OK- The Rider Broncs were able to get a pair of upsets by #28 Quinn Kinner and Michael Wilson, however ultimately fell to Oklahoma 24-10. Kinner and Wilson were both able to pick up decision victories over the #19 Mitch Moore and #23 Tate Picklo respectively.

Kinner scored a takedown in the first period and pitched the shutout for the rest of the bout, Kinner would escape to start the second and clinch things with the riding time point 4-0 at 149 to start the dual for the Broncs. With the win for Kinner, he gets his highest-ranked win of the year taking down the 19th-ranked wrestler by Intermat.

The story followed a similar script two bouts later as Michael Wilson would pick up a massive upset over #23 Tate Picklo. Wilson trailed 1-0 after a second-period escape by Picklo, however, Wilson would dominate the final period scoring the early escape and sealing the deal with a third-period takedown. For Wilson, it's the highest-ranked win of the season and of his career taking down the 23rd-ranked wrestler by Intermat.

Rider would stay close in every bout with only two bonus point decisions between both sides. The lone Bronc to get bonus points came in the final bout of the evening as McKenzie Bell would pick up his fifth-straight win and his third major decision in that span with an 8-0 shutout win over Oklahoma's Gabe Vidlak.

Quotes & Notes
"The guys wrestled better today, there was more effort than last weekend. We lost 4 matches by 6 combined points so we had our chances to win the dual but didn't capitalize on the opportunity…Wilson and Kinner both had good wins beating nationally ranked guys."- Rider Head Coach John Hangey

- Oklahoma extended their all-time series lead 3-0 over the Broncs
