Women's Track and Field Wins 2023 MAAC Indoor Championship

Broncs secure second MAAC Indoor title in four years

NEW YORK, NY – For the second time in four years, the Rider Broncs sit atop the MAAC as Women's Track and Field dominated the second day of competition at the MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Broncs scored 197 team points and had three MAAC Champions in five events as Mariah Stephens, Teagan Schein-Becker, and Natya Glasco each earned gold.

Stephens had an unbelievable meet as she won both the triple jump and the 60m hurdles at MAACs. Stephens has been extraordinary in her sophomore season in both track and field as she repeated as triple jump champion with a jump of 11.69m, after taking home the title as a freshman last season. Stephens also picked up her first MAAC title on the track in the 60H with a time of 8.59 after PR'ing in the prelims yesterday.

Teagan Schein-Becker was as impressive as ever, picking up first-place finishes in the mile as well as a part of the women's 4x800m relay. The 4x800m relay consisted of Krisantha Spencer, Lydia Wallace and Oliva de la Torre Coca.

Glasco was where it all started for the Broncs in the shot put on day one. Glasco won the shot put with a mark of 13.64m as well as finishing second in the weight throw with a new PR of 17.54.
QUOTES AND NOTES
"It is a great day to be a Bronc! The women really fought hard for this win. Quinnipiac was outstanding and made it incredibly hard. I am really proud of how the women kept fighting and picking themselves back up after any setback. Championships are really hard to win and they worked for this one. We were very fortunate to have some athletes really step up at the end of the meet to push us to victory. This was a great team effort."

"We have some women that have been big performers for us all year and they stepped up today. Glasco was outstanding, setting the tone early, winning the shot to lead the women throwers to some big points. Stephens was great today. She wins the hurdles in commanding fashion, runs great in the 60, and then wins the triple jump. She was huge for us today. Teagan was great this weekend. She did whatever it took for the team to have success with an individual win and leading the relay to victory. Palmer was incredible this weekend. She has grown so much this year and really stepped up for the team in every meet. "- Rider Head Coach Bob Hamer
