Wrestling Takes Share of MAC East Division on Senior Day

Broncs sweep The Weekend with wins vs Cleveland State and Drexel

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ- For the second time in three full years in the conference, the Rider University wrestling team won a share of the MAC East Division Dual Season Championship after taking down Cleveland State as a part of their tri-meet vs the Vikings and the Drexel Dragons. Rider defeated Cleveland State, 25-9, before taking down Drexel, 26-12. With the wins, Rider ends its dual season as the winner of five straight and finish with a record of 9-5 and 6-1 in the MAC.

Rider saw great performances from Tyler Klinsky, Richie Koehler, #23 McKenzie Bell, #22 Quinn Kinner, #6 Ethan Laird, and David Szuba who all swept the two bouts. Bell, and Szuba were all incredibly dominant with all of their wins on the afternoon with bonus point marks.

Bell also hasn't surrendered a point since January 28th vs Bucknell.

Ethan Laird would round out his final dual season with a perfect 13-0 and 7-0 in MAC duals. The three-time NCAA qualifier rounded out his dual season with a pair of strong showings to sweep the weekend at 197. Laird was also honored pregame as one of the seven members of the senior class along with Alec Bobchin, Bryan Miraglia, Corey Connolly, Wyatt McCarthy, Evan Vazquez and Jake Silverstein

Bronc Notes
"We got to a point when we wrestled Oklahoma and we knew what we had to do to get to this point and what I've been saying is go out there and put pressure on them don't worry about the score and just go out and wrestle and that's exactly what we did"

"I couldn't be more proud of that kid (Ethan Laird) I couldn't be more proud that he's in our program it's really sad that that is his last dual meet ever cause he closed out a lot of matches for me and I know I can always bank on him, but at the end of the now it's my job to get him to be a national champion and we are gonna work our tails off for that"- Rider Head Coach John Hangey
