LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The honors keep coming for Rider University freshman midfielder Saad Chaouki (Montreal, Quebec/Antoine de Saint Exupery), who's been named to the College Soccer News 2023 Men's All-Freshman Second Team. The honor comes less than a week after Top Drawer Soccer named him to its Freshman Best XI Second Team.

Chaouki became the Broncs' first MAAC Rookie of the Year since Rider had back-to-back honorees in Christian Flath (2013) and Florian Valot (2014). Bob Francis also took the honor in 1998. The freshman from Montreal scored twice and distributed a team-high six assists in 2023. He started 18 of 19 games played, and had both assists to Ethan Shaw in a 2-1 road win at Sacred Heart on Sept. 5. He scored his first goal as a Bronc on Sept. 24 against Fairfield, while also distributing four assists against MAAC competition. He scored his second goal of the year in a Nov. 1 win over Saint Peter's.
