PHILADELPHIA – Rider University men's tennis junior
Dhruv Tangri (Punjab, India/Cambridge International School) won a doubles match with
Nathan Slattery (Nenagh, Ireland) and also earned a singles win Friday at ITA Northeast Regionals, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
Tangri and Slattery paired on an 8-6 win over Vid Maric and Roberto Vaca of Niagara in the opening round of doubles, before falling, 8-5, to Cornell's Samuel Paquette and Aman Sharma.
Stavros Hadjivarnava (Moutagiaka, Cyrus/British College of Gava) and
Roger Martinez (Girona, Spain/Saint George's School) also competed in doubles, but fell to Mathis Tremblay and Tyler Nguyen of Saint Francis (Pa.), 8-4.
Tangri then went on to defeat Wagner's Sebastian Dobson, 6-1, 6-0, to set up a meeting with Penn's Parashar Bharadwaj, seeded in the No. 9-16 range, tomorrow.
Slattery, Hadjivarnava and Martinez also competed in singles, but fell in their first round matches. Slattery won the first set of his match against Wil Jenkins of NJIT, but fell, 3-6, 6-2, 6-0. Hadjivarnava and Martinez lost in straight sets.
