Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Falls to Saint Francis

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University Field Hockey team led early, but a pair of second-half goals were too much to handle in a 2-1 setback to Saint Francis Friday evening. The Broncs fall to 4-7 on the season, and 1-1 in NEC play. The Red Flash are now 7-5 on the year, improving to 2-0 in conference games.

The Broncs opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game. Carli Ciocco (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East[App State]) played a long pass into the circle that Emma Bonshak (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) deflected the initial pass toward goal where it was saved, but Bonshak put home the rebound to put Rider up 1-0.

The Red Flash stormed back with a pair of goals in the third quarter, taking a 2-1 lead.

The Broncs had several chances to tie the game, first late in the third quarter, when Willemijn Ephraim's (Amsterdam, The Netherlands/Vossius Gymnasium) shot was kick saved away.

In the fourth, the Broncs earned three-straight corners, but could not find the equalizer and the Red Flash held on for the one-goal victory.
