LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University sophomore goalkeeper
Adam Salama (Ramle, Israel/Orthodox [Ottawa Univ.]) has been named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, the league office today announced. Salama earned the win in a pair of road matches this week at Mount St. Mary's and Marist to help the Broncs clinch a home MAAC Quarterfinal match this Sunday as either the No. 3 or 4 seed.
Salama allowed just one goal in the Broncs' two wins and was the difference maker, stopping a penalty kick in each of the two victories by one goal differentials. He made six saves on the week, including four at Mount St. Mary's and two at Marist. His 1-0 shutout at Mount St. Mary's was his fifth of the season.
The Broncs wrap up the regular season on Wednesday night against Saint Peter's with the potential of moving up to the No. 3 seed with a win and a Manhattan loss at league-leading Iona. The Broncs' kickoff from Ben Cohen Field is scheduled for 7 p.m. on BroncVision.
