PHILADELPHIA, PA– The Rider University volleyball team was defeated in three sets at Temple Wednesday evening, falling 25-14, 25-15, 25-13. The Broncs fall to 5-14 on the year, while the Owls improve to 13-7.
With Rider leading 3-2 in the first, Temple took control of the opening set with a 7-1 run. Leading 17-12, the Owls pulled away with an 8-2 run that closed out the set.
Already leading 9-5, in the second, Temple extended the lead with a 5-0 run. Leading 22-15, Temple scored three-straight points to serve out the set.
After Rider scored the opening point in set three, Temple responded with a 5-0 run to take the early lead in the set. Trailing 8-4, Rider countered with three-straight points during the serve of
Carly Zimmet (Purcellville, VA/Loudon Valley). Leading 13-11, Temple scored seven-straight points and shortly after closed out the match.

"We are still struggling to find a rhythm which I can somewhat understand due to all the lineup adjustments. However, our desire to compete and play clean is the concern. We are too high error and it seems to be due to poor energy and poor decisions. Regardless of the personnel, people need to take advantage and play with passion. We will get back to work, and investigate why we seem to have low energy the past four matches, which is completely unacceptable."
