Volleyball Returns to Win Column at Saint Peter's

Box Score JERSEY CITY, NJ– The Rider University volleyball team bounced back, defeating Saint Peter's Saturday afternoon, 25-14, 20-25, 25-14, 25-16. The Broncs snap a four-match losing streak, improving to 6-14 on the year and 5-6 in MAAC play. The Peacocks drop to 0-24 on the season, and 0-12 in league matches.
 
Tied 3-3 in the opening set, Ryley Frye (New Hope, MN/Robbinsdale Armstrong[UTEP]), had an ace on her first serve of the match during a 4-0 that gave the Broncs an early lead. Leading 10-6, the Broncs began to pull away with a 6-1 run to extend the lead. Up 23-14, the Broncs got back-to-back kills from Gabby Polynice (Manhattan Beach, CA/Grant[Delaware State]) to close out the set.
 
With Rider holding a 4-3 lead in the second, the Peacocks responded with a 5-0 run to take the set lead. Down 18-13, Frye had another ace during a 3-0 run, but the Broncs would get no closer.
 
The Broncs came out of the break on a mission, opening the set with a 6-0 run on the serve of Molly Strah (Akron, OH/Archbishop Hoban). Leading 10-5, Carley McAleavey (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) had an ace during a 4-0 run that extended the lead to nine. Leading 17-10, Frye served four-straight points to pull away and later take the set.
 
Down 3-2 early in set four, Rider went on a 4-0 run to take the lead capped by back-to-back kills from McAleavey. Leading 15-10, Keegan O'Connor (Weatherford, TX/Weatherford) served an ace during a 5-0 run as the Broncs pulled away in the decisive set.

- The Broncs complete the season sweep, extending their lead in the all-time series to 39-21.
- For the eighth time this season, Makenna Mason (Hilton Head Island, SC/Hilton Head) and Frye reached double digit assists in the same match with 21 and 18 respectively.
