LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University Field Hockey team played dominant defense and found late offense to defeat Lock Haven, 2-0, Sunday afternoon. The Broncs improve to 4-6, while the Bald Eagles fall to 3-7.
Both sides had opportunities in the opening half, with Rider earning four corners and Lock Haven earning seven. The defense for both sides was stout despite the chances, keeping the game scoreless through 30 minutes.
The Broncs earned three corners in the opening two minutes of the second half, finally converting on the third opportunity when
Kiera Guckavan (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area) made the feed to
Ang Borisow (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) to open the scoring.
The Broncs maintained the one-goal lead until late in the fourth quarter. It was another corner for the Broncs, who got the insurance goal from
Lyric Scott (Union, NJ/Union) with assists from
Valeria Perales (Madrid, Spain/IES Mirasierra) and Guckavan.
