PRINCETON, NJ- Rider snapped it's losing streak to cross-town rival Princeton as the Broncs would take down the Tigers, 19-18, at Jadwin Gym. Rider won based on the criteria D, total near fall points, which the Broncs got by way of victories late by #33
McKenzie Bell and #23
Quinn Kinner.
At the end of all 10 bouts, there was an even tie in matches won 5-5. The next category to win was most amount of wins by pin, forfeits, defaults and disqualifications, which there was none of. Total points, criteria C, came out even as well, at 66-66, moving the decision on to criteria D, near-fall points which Rider would be able to take the dual with 18 near-fall points. Kinner accounted for 14 of those in his tech-fall win at 149 to help squeeze the Broncs past Princeton.
Michael Wilson was able to get Rider their first victory of the dual as he took a 3-1 decision over Kole Mulhauser at 174.
Ethan Laird was able to stay perfect in duals with another ranked win as he took down #20 Luke Stout. Laird was able to pick up a huge scoop slam takedown in the third period to secure the 8-3 decision at 197.Â
Tyler Klinsky was able to get his 10th win of the season with a slim 6-4 victory over Nick Kayal at 125. Klinsky was able to take a 4-3 lead into the third period but a Kayal escape early in the third would lead us to sudden victory, where Klinsky would pull away, scoring the takedown with less than 45 seconds left in the overtime period.
Bell was able to battle the Broncs back into the dual with a huge major decision victory over Sean Pierson, 11-1, at 141 to help cut the dual scoring to two. Bell would control the bout from the opening whistle with an early first period takedown. Bell would add a second takedown in the second however conceding the escape taking a 10-1 advantage into the final period following a four-point near fall late in the third.Â
The other Kingsway alumnus, Quinn Kinner, would give the Broncs the lead heading into the final bout as he dominated at 149 with an 18-0 tech fall win over Marshall Keller. Kinner would score a take down early in the first and proceed to ride Keller down scoring back points to take a 8-0 advantage into the second period. In the second period, Kinner would almost finish it with a fall but would take the back points to go up 12-0 into the third period. Kinner would round things out with another four-point near fall to end the bout by way of tech fall.Â
