PHILADELPHIA – The Rider University field hockey team struggled Sunday afternoon, falling 3-0 at La Salle. The Broncs fall to 3-2 on the season, while the Explorers improve to 3-3.
La Salle was in control of the opening quarter, holding the Broncs without a shot in the period. The Explorers had their best shot late in the quarter, but Cat McFadden's shot rang off the post and the game remained scoreless.
Late in the second, the Explorers finally broke through. It was a flurry of shots, started by another that rang off the post, the rebound attempt was saved, but the third shot finally found the back of the cage to put La Salle on top 1-0 going into the halftime break.
The Explorers pulled away in the third, scoring twice in the quarter to extend the advantage to the eventual final.
