LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University senior women's soccer forward
Makenzie Rodrigues (Seattle, WA/Forest Ridge) has been named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week and junior goalkeeper
Ellie Sciancalepore (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) has earned Defensive Player of the Week, the league office today announced. The honors come following the Broncs' wins over Villanova and Delaware State this past week.
Rodrigues scored the game-winning goal in both games, including the lone tally in a 1-0 win over Villanova on Thursday. She then recorded her first-career hat trick with three goals in a 6-0 win at Delaware State on Sunday. The four-goal week pushed her career total to 19, good for a tie for eighth in program history with Ellie Smith and Michelle Iacono. The honor is the third of Rodrigues' career, following a pair of honors during the Spring 2021 season.
Sciancalepore posted a pair of shutouts on the week, including a seven-save effort on Thursday at Villanova, to push her career mark to six clean sheets. At Villanova, she made two saves in the first half, before stopping five shots in the second half, including four after Rodrigues' goal in the 52
nd minute. The honor is Sciancalepore's second as a Bronc, also earning the honor on Oct. 4, 2021.
The Broncs return to action Wednesday, when they travel to Albany. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
