Pablo Salar Carrera (Barcelona, Spain/IES Jaume Balmes) and
Jaime de Jaraiz Garcia won the A Flight Doubles Championship as the Rider University men's tennis team wrapped up play at the Ranger Invitational, hosted by Drew University, on Sunday. The duo won three matches on the day and four matches on the weekend to secure the title, including a 6-4 win over Pablo Poleo and Paulo Ruiz of Harford Community College in the finals.
"This was a great event for our men. If we stand any chance of competing in the MAAC, it has to start with doubles," said Rider Head Coach
Tom Battaglia. "Since September, the guys have really bought into the system we are implementing and slowly, but surely, it's paying off. Passive play won't win you points at this level and our guys know that. Love the energy and fight this weekend."
Peter Komosinski (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Laurel Springs) and
Dylan Lachmanen (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Preparatory) also competing, falling in the A flight semifinals. As a team, the Broncs went 19-5 on the weekend.
Rider returns to action Thursday, when it plays host to Hofstra at 2 p.m.
