MADISON, NJ – The Rider University men's tennis team opened the 2022 spring season Saturday at the Ranger Invitational, hosted by Drew University. The duos of
Pablo Salar Carrera (Barcelona, Spain/IES Jaume Balmes)/
Jaime de Jaraiz Garcia and
Peter Komosinski (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Laurel Springs)/
Dylan Lachmanen (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Preparatory) both went undefeated in round robin doubles competition as the Broncs posted a 13-3 record on the day.
Vishal Ganeshan (Millers Point, New South Wales, Australia/Knox Grammar School) and
Nicholas Salazar (Palmetto Bay, FL/Westminster Christian School) also went 3-1 on the day after losing their first match in a tie-breaker.
"It was great to finally be on the court playing competitive tennis," said Rider Head Coach
Tom Battaglia. "My message to the team was to focus on the things they could control. In tennis, divisions don't matter. It's a human being hitting a tennis ball back. Many of the teams we played today were excellent and really pushed us hard. As the day got better we played loose and very aggressive. We started a little tight and lost a few we wish we could have back. Our serve and return percentages were well above our average and we just need to keep building on that."
Singles play at the Ranger Invitational commences tomorrow.
