- Rider Wrestling continues dual competition vs Purdue on Friday.
SERIES VS PURDUE
-Last year Purdue dominated Rider in Lawrenceville by a team margin of 33-3
-This is the fourth all-time meeting between Rider and Purdue, the Boilermakers lead the all-time series 2-1.
LAST TIME OUT
- Rider is coming off a tough dual to open MAC competition, where they took down SIUe 21-19
- Ethan Laird was able to seal the win on Friday with a tech fall at 197.
- Rider is coming off an impressive showing at the Princeton Open where Quinn Kinner and
Ethan Laird both went 4-0 en route to taking the 149 lbs. and 197 lbs.
- 10 Broncs, including Colton Washleski,
D'Amani Almodovar,
David Szuba,
Hunter Mays, Mckenzie Bell,
Michael Wilson,
Ray Weed, and
Cole McComas all found themselves on the podium in the season-opening event in Jadwin Gym.
- Last week Purdue traveled to Clairon where they were able to win the Clairon Open with 6 champions and 12 placewinners.
- No. 8 Matt Ramos and No. 11 Parker Filius won their titles outright, while the duos of Dustin Norris and Jacob Macatangay and No. 13 Kendall Coleman and Nate Camiscioli shared their titles with each other once they reached the finals.

- The Broncs are coming off a tough season in 2022 in which injuries and redshirt seasons limited the team. Rider finished 8th at MAC Championships.
- Rider returns five NCAA Qualifiers, including two from last season.
STORIES IN THE STABLE
- A three-time NCAA Qualifier, Ethan Laird returns following a redshirt season in 2021-22. He qualified for NCAA's at 197 in his true sophomore and junior years, before bumping up to heavyweight for 2020-21. He'll wrestle at 197 this season.
- Richie Koehler is a two-time NCAA Qualifier, earning the honor in each of the last two seasons at 133.
- Quinn Kinner, who was an NCAA Qualifier at 141 in his first season at Rider last year, will bump up to 149 this season.
- 2021 NCAA Qualifiers McKenzie Bell and
Jake Silverstein also return this season. Bell redshirted last year after going to NCAA's at 141 as a true freshman. Silverstein suffered through injuries last season after qualifying for NCAA's at 165 in 2021.
- Five Broncs appear in the individual preseason rankings, with Laird headlining the group with a ranking as high as No. 13 nationally by Intermat at 197. Kinner is ranked as high as No. 14 by FloWrestling at 149, while Koehler and Bell are both ranked No. 21 by FloWrestling. Heavyweight David Szuba was also given an Honorable Mention by FloWrestling.
- John Hangey returns for his sixth season as Rider's Head Coach. The 2020 MAC Co-Coach of the Year has posted a 41-24 dual record with 19 of his wrestlers qualifying for NCAA's in his first five years.
- The Broncs finished 35th at NCAA's last season with 5.5 points.
