FAIRFIELD, CT – The Rider University Volleyball Team took a set of MAAC leaders Fairfield Saturday afternoon, before ultimately falling in four sets. The Broncs fall to 9-17 overall and 7-10 in MAAC play, while the Stages improve to 22-6 on the year, including 16-1 in league matches.
The first set went back and forth. Down 5-4, Rider scored three straight points, including a kill and an ace by
Jenna Amaro (Davie, FL/Archbishop McCarthy). The Stags countered with a 4-0 run and eventually earned set point leading 24-20.
Morgan Romano (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty) provided back-to-back kills during a 3-0 run that made it 24-23, but the Stags got the side out to close out the set.
In the second, Rider jumped out to a 9-3 lead, including service aces by Amaro and
Alicia Iafrate (Closter, NJ/Demarest). Fairfield climbed back into the set, but leading 21-19, the Broncs Romano had a pair of kills during a 3-0 as the Broncs took the set 25-20.
The third set mirrored the first. Trailing 12-11, Fairfield scored three-straight to take the lead. Tied 14-14, Fairfield used a 4-0 and never trailed again during the set taking the third 25-21.
The fourth was all Fairfield. Leading 10-7, the Stags went on a 6-1 run and were perfect on side outs for the remainder of the set, taking the final set 25-14.

- Fairfield completes the season sweep and now leads the all-time series 41-5.
- Romano led the Broncs with 19 kills, her 16
th match in double figures this season.
- Amaro added 12 kills, her seventh time reaching double digits this season. She also had 10 digs for her third double-double of the season.

Christina Blount (Liberty Township, OH/Lakota East) also had 12 kills while hitting .556. It was her second match in double figures this year.

Tori Schrader (Grantville, PA/Lower Dauphin) was the fourth Bronc with double-digit kills, getting 10, her seventh match in double figures this season.

Keegan O'Connor (Weatherford, TX/Weatherford) led the Broncs with 19 digs, her seventh match in double figures.
- Iafrate had 13 digs for the second-straight match, her tenth match this season, and eighth in a row, in double figures.
BRONCS BY THE NUMBERS
- Rider hit .172 in the match, but the Stags hit .281.
- Rider out-killed Fairfield 59-58 in the match, the difference was Rider's 29 errors compared to just 15 for Fairfield.

Julia Slivka (Adamstown, MD/Tuscarora) had 29 assists to lead the Broncs.
